On the 21th of September D and I celebrated our 5th "dating" anniversary. By this I want to mean the anniversary of our first date, on that college party when we first kissed! I already told all the details here in the first posts so this time I want to write about something different!
I'll tell ya how we celebrated our dating anniversary on each of these 5 past years but very shortly except for our 4th anniversary which was kinda of a funny story! So, that said, let's get to it!
So on our first anniversary, unfortunately D was already here in the US while I was still there in Brazil, so we couldn't celebrate it together and in person. So I guess he ended up buying me some flowers online. Yeah, I guess that's what happened!
On our second anniversary, he was still in the US and I in Brazil, but this time we were already engaged to get married and I wanted to show him my love with a special gift, delivered by mail. So, three or four months before our date I decided I would make a thousand "tsurus" (that bird of japanese folding) because I heard it was a common and a nice gesture people would do to show their appreciation to their loved one. Well, I guess not so common after all, lol. I also wrote a nice letter, recorded a CD with some nice songs, bought a booklet on the "miss you" subject and put everything in a nice box and sprayed some of his favorite perfume and voila. He loved the gift and I never made one more tsuru in my life, after that. lol
On our third anniversary we were already married and we were living under the same roof but because of some problems we were separated again because I was in Brazil solving some things. This time, we didn't celebrated and only talked on skype.
On our fourth anniversary, Rebecca was already born and she was a lit bit older than 20 days and it was our first anniversary together! So, I remember we all have attended the 6pm mass on a Tuesday and we were still deciding whether or not to celebrate our anniversary (we'd almost forgotten about it). Then we decided finally for celebrating it even though we were specially short in money during that time and we had just bought a new car in a thousand payments. So we looked at ourselves and we were kinda groomed so we decided we would go from there to a nice restaurant, right away.
So we thought about going to the best one in the city because, well, we have been so many times to the second better one, so it shouldn't be a big difference from the first one, right? We're so wrong... So, we got there, a fancy dressed man opened the door for us and we sat down. The decor was very fancy too! Then D turned to me and said we'd just passed through a table in which some of his professors were sitting. Ok. We opened the menu, and, oh boy, it was expensive....
Look, we really considered leaving the place but we'd already seated and we were recognized by D's professors so we had no option other than face that fat bill. Well, so let's do it! I asked for a salmon. Actually I had not understood, but it was actually a fine pastry (fish shaped) with salmon, crab meat and cream filled! It was very delicious, actually! D, asked for a huge steak (never saw one bigger) - classic - and the sauces were phenomenal - said with a british accent, please! =) "Wine?" - asked the waiter. "No, thank you". lol I guess we were the only people there who weren't drinking wine. lol
Well, the waiter at some point asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and we - naively - said "Yes! It's our dating anniversary". Then, after checking the confused face of the waiter we kinda noticed how awkward it sounded. It looked like we were still dating and already had a baby together... haha. Well, it was kinda funny/tragic. End of story, we payed a total of $100! Owa, I was just calculating mentally how many times we could have eaten in a normal restaurant with that amount of a single time!
Well, and for our latest anniversary we had a sweet friend volunteering to watch Rebecca over (in that case, it was already bed time, so she was sleeping all the time) so we could go out the two of us, only, for the first time here in the US, so we went to BJ's for a good pizza (I like the dough that tastes alcohol somehow, I think) and for theirs pizookie! Yum! We had the triple chocolate one! And actually we also had soup (check online for their special for two for 20 dollars since they don't advertise this at the place). Just remembering you that I'm still enjoying my recent comeback to the dairy products since I've stopped breastfeeding and Rebecca now loves the Silk Soy milk Very Vanilla we buy and she is used to the bottle now and finally!!
And once more, I just want to mention that I adore and love very much my sweet husband and my always valentine, D! What a good man he is, one that only gets better everyday! I'm aware of my luck to have him in my life as my partner!
I loved your post, I didn't know it was your anniversary, congrats! :) I'm glad that you two could spend some time together!
ReplyDeleteI think it is cute that you two still celebrate your dating anniversary. I think it would be too many dates to remember for us, ha ha. Our wedding anniversary is the only we celebrate. :)
